TUFLOW comprises two hydrodynamic modelling engines designed to meet a wide range of hydraulic and environmental assessment needs:
As environmental assessment requirements continue to broaden, organisations are increasingly expected to simulate water quality, sediment transport, particle movement and other processes in addition to traditional hydraulics. Demand for this capability has increased rapidly over the past 18 to 24 months. In response, TUFLOW is introducing a revised product bundle discount structure that makes it easier for users to access both engines.
To support organisations that wish to use both modelling engines, TUFLOW now offers a 100 percent engine licence purchase discount when an organisation already holds one engine type and wishes to obtain the other.
Each organisation is assessed based on the total value of its maintained engine licences. Two branches are defined:
| Examples |
|
Organisations With Only One Engine Type A consultancy with a Network 5 Classic / HPC licence may obtain up to Network 5 FV at a 100 percent purchase discount. They may choose FV Network 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 at no cost. The same applies in reverse for organisations that currently use only FV. |
|
Organisations With Both Engine Types An organisation has: Local 6 Classic / HPC and Local 2 TUFLOW FV Classic / HPC has the greater total value, so would be classified as the Primary Branch. FV is classified as the Secondary branch The organisation may acquire up to Local 6 FV engine licences at no purchase cost, allowing them to increase FV capacity from Local 2 to Local 6. If FV were the larger pool, Classic / HPC would instead receive the discount. |
While Secondary Branch engine purchases receive a 100 percent discount, annual maintenance fees still apply. This is because at TUFLOW we prioritise providing the highest quality support and software. Annual Maintenance is 15 percent of the engine licence list price and supports research and development, software updates and ongoing customer support
The discount applies to engine licences only and does not extend to module licences.
To support more advanced environmental modelling, TUFLOW is simplifying its environmental module structure. The Advection Dispersion (AD) module is discontinued as a standalone product. From 2026 onward, AD functionality is included at no extra cost with any environmental module, including: 3D, Water Quality, Sediment Transport, Particle Tracking and CATCH.
Organisations that currently hold AD licences (Classic / HPC or FV) will receive a free upgrade to one environmental module. One upgrade is provided per AD licence. The TUFLOW sales team will be contacting all eligible organisations over the coming month to discuss what free module upgrade they would like, and to process associated licence updates.
The TUFLOW CATCH (including AD functionality) and GPU module can be shared between Classic / HPC and FV when using TUFLOW releases from 2025.0.0 onward. For this module sharing to function, all licences associated with the model simulation must be hosted on the same licence type (i.e. all on a local hardware dongle/s, software lock/s or cloud licence/s).
The TUFLOW team offers comprehensive training to assist Classic / HPC modellers transitioning to advanced environmental modelling in FV. Training can include:
Training can be tailored to project specific needs.
