Change to TUFLOW licencing through Jacobs

Notice of changes to TUFLOW licencing process when purchased through Jacobs

As part of the continued collaboration between the Flood Modeller (Jacobs) and TUFLOW product teams to provide users of our respective products with the best possible experience, we are implementing some changes to the way that the TUFLOW licences are processed and managed.

Currently, when a TUFLOW licence is purchased through Jacobs, the TUFLOW licence is coded up, provided, and managed by the Flood Modeller product team.  On this process will transfer from the Flood Modeller product team to the TUFLOW product team.

This change will bring the following benefits to users:

  • Ability to access older TUFLOW versions for those users wishing to migrate to Cloud licences. Currently, users are limited to the past 2 versions under Jacobs’ licensing.
  • Seamless access to and sharing of your TUFLOW licences across both your own IT infrastructure and Flood Platform (requires move to Cloud licence).

Ability to share module licences between TUFLOW Classic/HPC and TUFLOW FV for versions 2025.0.0 and later. Currently, it is not possible to enable this if your TUFLOW licence is coded up by Jacobs.  This makes it easier to use TUFLOW CATCH with existing licences (for example for those users who have TUFLOW HPC licences through Jacobs and TUFLOW FV licences through TUFLOW).

There is no change to the commercial relationship you have with Jacobs for your TUFLOW licences and maintenance agreement.

TUFLOW licences can still be obtained and maintained through Jacobs. Jacobs will work with the TUFLOW product team to provide the TUFLOW licences to you.

The Flood Modeller 'TUFLOW Link' licence is exclusively available from Jacobs, who also manage its maintenance.

To simplify the management of current TUFLOW licencing, all existing TUFLOW licences issued by Jacobs will be replaced with licences to be issued by the TUFLOW product team. Customers can contact either of the Flood Modeller or TUFLOW support teams to initiate the transfer of licences or wait until they are contacted by one of our teams. The transfer process is simple and will not interrupt access to licences.

For those customers with network licences, there is the option to move to a Cloud licence which would allow the licences to also be used (shared) within Flood Platform on a bring your own basis.  Separate costs would be applicable for the use of Flood Platform.

Both TUFLOW and Jacobs are dedicated to delivering exceptional service to users of our flood risk modelling products. Our ongoing collaboration will drive continuous advancements in the integration of TUFLOW with Flood Modeller. This includes our development on the TUFLOW Link, enhancements within Flood Modeller for model building, simulation and analysis with TUFLOW, and joint training courses.
