The TUFLOW Tutorial Models are an excellent way for new users to learn how to develop and view models. Tutorials are designed to help the user develop a clear understanding of the key concepts and structure of TUFLOW models. The tutorials are intended to be used during training sessions, however it is possible to self-train by working through the tutorial independently. Inexperienced modellers, with no prior hydraulic modelling experience may have difficulties with some steps and concepts. A TUFLOW licence is not required to run the tutorial/demo models. The complete model input files are provided, allowing the user to cross-check and compare their files to help identify any problems.
To fully benefit from the tutorial/demo models, please take your time. Any queries can be sent to email@example.com .Constructive feedback is very welcome by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by using the Discuss option on the relevant TUFLOW Tutorial Wiki page.
The TUFLOW Tutorial Model developed in 2007 will be progressively replaced by Wiki-based tutorials, starting September 2011. The Wiki tutorials update the five modules from the 2007 Tutorial Model and include at least six new modules, covering advanced TUFLOW features. The Wiki environment also allows users to post discussions or queries about the Tutorial Models to TUFLOW trainers.
The Wiki TUFLOW tutorials are designed around the following GIS platforms. Additional pages for viewing results using SMS and WaterRide are also provided.
- MapInfo with Vertical Mapper
- MapInfo with Discover
- ArcGIS with Spatial Analyst
- SAGA open source GIS
If using MapInfo to work through the Wiki Tutorial, the TUFLOW 2010-10 release or later should be used. TUFLOW 2011-09 release or later is required if using ArcGIS or SAGA .
